My Dream Dressing Table

Posted in Style & Interiors by

Just as we were about to renew the lease on our lovely little central Brighton flat at the beginning of this year, we were told that our landlord had decided to sell up and that we had to find somewhere else to live. Faced with finding a new flat in the space of 2 months or moving in with family to save, we chose the latter. Looking back, there’s no doubt in my mind that this was the right decision, but – particularly as someone who lives and breathes interiors – I so miss the time I used to spend creating a beautiful space for us to call home. Moving from an entire flat to one bedroom has meant that my love for buying homeware and furniture has had to be put on hold somewhat, but it’s still something that’s always at the forefront of my mind.

My little eyes lit up, then, when I realised that our room is missing one thing – a dressing table! I’ve got a little old fashioned sewing machine unit which currently does a pretty average job of holding my makeup, but having somewhere to sit and put my face on each morning would make me so happy! It would also double up as a desk for days when I’m working from home, which I currently spend in bed with a laptop that has a tendency to overheat – not a winning combination, I’m sure you can imagine.

I can’t afford to start the project just yet, so I thought I’d record my thoughts by putting together a little mood board to share with you for the moment. I’m going for a white/copper look (I know I know, classic blogger), and as I’ve got some marble adhesive vinyl left over from my IKEA bedside table makeover, I’ll cover the top with that so it ties in with the rest of our decor. I’ve also been delving into the wonderful world of makeup storage which, sad as it may sound to some, has been very exciting! One particular product that caught my eye was a rotating tabletop unit which looks the perfect size to store everything I use on a daily basis – super convenient and simple to organise. Just how I like it!

Let me know what you think, and if you have any hints/tips for me before I get started then I’d love to hear them!
